Mother Goose on the Loose

Monday’s 10:00, Begins September 10th

What is Mother Goose on the Loose?

Mother goose on the loose is an early learning program designed primarily for babies from birth to 24 months. MGOL integrates the latest research in early literacy and infant brain development with traditional storytime elements. MGOL uses books, rhymes, songs musical instruments, finger-plays, flannel board characters, puppets and other props. This sets in motion a lifelong love of learning, reading and libraries for children. MGOL is a program specifically geared for the under-the-age-of-two-audience. Presenting songs, rhymes, and activities with 80% repetition and 20% variety offers little ones a perfect learning environment.

Here are some guidelines for this program:

1) This program is designed for adult and child t o interact with each other. Please make arrangements for older children at this time.
2) Please plan to arrive early. We will enter the story room together and begin on time. Dress comfortably to sit on the floor with your child on your lap.
3) If your child becomes restless, uncooperative, or just having a bad day, please step-outside when your child is ready, quietly rejoin the group.

Toddlertime

Monday’s 10:30, Begins September 10th

What is Toddlertime?

Toddlertime is an interactive program for two-year-old children which uses more visual aids and repetition than do preschool storytimes. There will be stories, books, puppets, songs and musical instruments.

1) Please bring only your two year old. Older children should not be part of this activity. Toddler story-time is designed for one child and one adult to interact together. Parents or caregivers are active participants and role models.
2) Please plan to arrive early. We will enter the story room together and begin on time. Two year olds are easy to distract by latecomers to the story room. Dress comfortably to sit on the floor with your child on your lap.
3) If your child becomes restless, uncooperative, or just having a bad day, please step-outside when your child is ready, quietly rejoin the group.
4) This is a set time for adults and children to fully participate in planned activities together. If you want to chat with a friend, please do so before or after the program.
5) Toddlers enjoy watching others rather than participating themselves in new situations. If you participate and have fun, your child will soon join you.
6) A Toddlertime handout will be provided listing finger-plays, songs and rhymes so that they can become familiar with them and be repeated at home.

By coming to story programs at the library, children develop familiarity with libraries, books, words, music, routine, librarians and other children. Together we can develop and nurture your child’s love of books, reading and the library.
