When I began coming to the public library I did not think about volunteering. I mostly thought about the next book I was going to check out. I only started to think about it when I met Ms. Jean. She was the main reason I wanted to volunteer at the library.
Ms. Jean is a big help and loves books as much as I do. I have been volunteering for three years and know how to do just about everything. I mostly work on checking-in and checking-out books, entering new books into the system, placing new magazines in their holders, answering the phone, and entering new patrons into the system. There is always shelving to do, (but I admit) I’d rather leave the shelving to Ms. Jean.
I love working on the computer and with the patrons. I have loved working here from the beginning and enjoy meeting the people I have met at the library. The summer program is my favorite time of the year, because I get to do all the things with the kids and that I love the most.
I’ve learned a lot here and meet the best people that come in here and talk to you like you are old friends. If you love to read and interact with people the Mayflower Library is the best place to be!
